Description of Position:
Under the direction of the Senior Dean of Instruction, the Division Dean, or the Department Chair of Kinesiology, the incumbent will teach Kinesiology courses. As a Kinesiology Instructor, will teach assigned courses in Kinesiology theory (lecture) and activity classes. Teaching assignments may include a combination of day, evening, and weekend hours.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Demonstrate sensitivity in working with students and staff of diverse racial, ethnic, academic, and socio-economic backgrounds, sexual orientations, and disabilities, showing respect for differences and the dignity of others.
Adapt teaching methodologies for students with special needs and different learning styles.
Participate in faculty responsibilities such as course and curriculum development and review, committees, research, and special projects as needed in the discipline, department, or district.
Attend and participate in department, division, and college meetings and keep posted office hours.
Maintain and provide current course syllabi as required by the California Education Code.
Meet record-keeping obligations on time, e.g., grades, census rosters, textbook orders, and requisitions.
Foster professional work and learning environment.
Collaborate with other Kinesiology faculty and create a team environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Adjunct Faculty duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. providing instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines and class schedules;
2. creating and maintaining an environment which emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinking;
3. evaluating progress of students concerning educational matters and grades student work;
4. meeting with students outside of class;
5. maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics;
6. maintaining current knowledge in the subject matter areas;
7. fulfilling professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member;
8. maintaining accurate academic records;
9. performing other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification-Education/Experience:
Understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, staff and faculty.
