The Assistant Manager of Aquatics is responsible for the supervision and oversight of staff, operations, and programming of the Boston University Aquatics Center. As part of the Department of Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance, they will advance all academic and recreational initiatives put forth by Boston University. Reporting to the Manager of Aquatics, this position will support all aspects of pool operations including, but not limited to: hiring, training, and scheduling of lifeguards and instructors; supervising swim meet operations, including meet management software, equipment inventory and maintenance, and staffing; supporting aquatic club sports teams, varsity swim & dive, and rental groups; addressing pool maintenance issues in conjunction with Boston University Facilities & Operations and external vendors; developing adult and children's programming, ensuring revenue generation and member satisfaction; ensuring safe operation of all pool functions, including maintaining chemical testing and recording, regulations and policies, staff certifications, and regular staff training. This position includes potential early morning, late night, weekend and holiday hours as needed.
Required Skills
At least three years of experience in aquatics management. B.A./B.S. or equivalent preferred. Current basic level certifications in CPR/AED, lifeguard training, First Aid and Certified Pool Operation. American Red Cross Instructor Trainer certifications in Lifeguarding and Water Safety Instruction. Ability to use computer operating systems and common applications such as spreadsheets, word processors, database programs, email programs and web browsers. Past experience with Colorado Timing System, When To Work, and Word Press strongly preferred. Ability to effectively supervise and motivate employees, both student and part-time. Excellent customer service, organizational, written and verbal skills.
